Malia Obama

July 8, 2008 / by jamesnews

Her father is famous but Malia Obama is like a lot of 10-year-olds: she sometimes finds him embarrassing.

She recalled one time when a friend came over to their house in Chicago and her father, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, ever in campaign mode, shook the girl's hand to say hello.

Malia recalled telling him: "You really don't shake kids' hands that much ... You just wave or say hi."

The Obamas were interviewed for Access Hollywood last week in Butte, Montana, where the Illinois senator took the family to help him with the double task of campaigning on the Fourth of July and celebrating Malia's 10th birthday that day.

Barack Obama and his family gave Access Hollywood an interview that will air in four-parts on July 8th, 9th and 10th. This is the first time the Obama-camp has granted an interview that includes the entire Obama family.

   1. Air dates: Tuesday, July 8th, Wednesday, July 9th and Thursday, July 10th

   2. Interviewer: Maria Menounos

   3. Network: NBC

   4. Barack Obama's two daughters are Malia and Sasha Obama ages 10 and 7 respectively

   5. First interview the Obama campaign has granted which includes his whole family1

Malia Obama's responds to having parents that are in the spotlight, here she comments on reading about her mother in People Magazine:

o "They always have those sections with you know, how much people's dresses cost, and so I saw that magazine, and I said, 'Oh mommy you're in this!' I've never seen mommy in that. Because I usually see people like Angelina Jolie. You know, important people."

Access Hollywood scored an exclusive interview with the entire Barack Obama family over the 4th of July weekend. Maria Menounos spoke with Barack, his wife Michelle and their daughters - in particular, Malia Obama, 10.

Malia does not conduct herself like any 10-year-old I’ve ever met. Malia tells Menounos that she has dibs on one of the bedrooms in the White House when (not if) her daddy wins the presidency. Miss Malia knows how she’s going to decorate her room and everything.

Precocious might be too tame a word to describe Malia Obama. This little girl is TOO grown. I blame the parents. What can one expect when both parents are frequently on the road leaving their small children to practically raise themselves?
