A cold chill down my spine

July 3, 2008 / by jamesnews

John McCain denied a Republican colleague's claim that he roughed up an associate of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega on a diplomatic mission in 1987, saying the allegation was "simply not true."

Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., told a Mississippi newspaper that he saw McCain, during a trip to Nicaragua led by former Sen. Bob Dole, R-Kan., grab an Ortega associate by his shirt collar and lift him out of his chair.

In comments published July 1, 2008, Republican Senator Thad Cochran claimed to have seen John McCain employ harsh physical tactics against an official of the Nicaraguan government, during a 1987 diplomatic mission.

McCain quickly denied the allegation, stating: "I did not admire the Sandinistas much, but there was never anything of that nature. It just didn't happen.

   1. Cochran is senior Senator from Mississippi

   2. Has held the office since 1978

   3. Has served with McCain 21 years

   4. Socialist Sandinistas held power in Nicaragua, 1979-1990

   5. Cochran previously said of McCain, "The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine.

We most certainly don’t need this mad dog in the White House with his fingers on the buttons. no no no! You know, everyone grants that he is a hero for being a prisoner of war. But the question I have, and I feel it’s a legitimate question, is this. Does he have PTSD? Does he suffer to this day from his POW days? Can one trust that he isn’t mentally unstable from his time as a POW? Friends of mine had a next door neighbor who was a prisoner of war during WWII. The guy was NEVER mentally healthy the rest of his days. He would be good for a long time and then bam….something would set him off and he’d think his wife was trying to poison him and all kinds of crazy "S" I just wonder about McCain……..am I the only one that does???

And this is from another Republican

There are many questions about both candidates that when taken to their possible conclusion might lead American voters to experience "cold chills".  This will be a difficult choice to make for all of us, because neither candidate seems to be what they are trying to sell us.  The questions are endless concerning both men.  I would have thought we could have done better than either of these gentlemen... or at least could have found someone with less "baggage".

Your questions are valid.  Yet, I wonder if we shouldn't question the mental soundness of an adult that believes anything a politician says.
